The Co-worker I Didn't Know I Needed

Work surprises you in the best ways sometimes.

One of the greatest gifts I didn’t expect when I joined the City of Savannah was my colleague Barbara on the benefits team. She’s become one of my strongest supporters at work.

Barbara has always been a working mom and she navigated parenting in a time when flexibility looked very different. She has walked through a lot in life. With over 40 years professional experience, 18 or those with the City of Savannah, I learn so much from her lived experience, perspective, and steady wisdom. 

She brings empathy, humor, and heart into every conversation — and she always has a listening ear.

What I love most is how much we learn from each other. 

I share about health, the power of movement, and even a little about AI.

Barbara teaches me about benefits, retirement, and long-term thinking, both in work and in life. 

Best of all, we LAUGH often! 

Barbara recently joined the YMCA which made me incredibly proud!!!
